ASG, INC. ENDORSES SLATE FOR FEBRUARY 1 DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS
Alexandria, Virginia - Alexandrians for Sensible Growth has completed
its evaluation of the 12 Democratic candidates vying for City Council
seats in the May election and endorses the following six for the
February 1 Democratic caucus:
* Barbara Brenman
* Bill Dickinson
* Ludwig Gaines
* Andrew Macdonald
* Del Pepper
* Lillian White
This was a difficult decision because we realized early in the
process that we had 12 credible, capable and accomplished people
to consider. The Democratic Party in Alexandria is to be congratulated
for its contribution to the political process in this city.
ASG Board members went through a deliberate and rigorous process
to ensure that the candidates we are asking Democratic voters to
support on February 1 endorsed and are consistent with ASG's goals,
demonstrated an excellent grasp of the issues, offered innovative
solutions, and that each one's background makes him or her a suitable
City Council candidate. In addition we attended the Democratic candidates'
forum on January 8, which allowed us to evaluate their public presentations
before making a final decision.
"We feel very good about our process. Therefore, we present with
confidence a slate of six outstanding and committed individuals
ASG would like Democrats to support on the first of February."
