BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENTS OF ASG BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Katy Cannady, ASG Secretary,
has lived in Alexandria since the early 1980s. Over the past twenty
years her service to the community has included the following: President
of the Alexandria League of Women Voters, President of the National
Capital Area League of Women Voters, member of the board of directors
of the Virginia League of Women Voters, current land use chair of
the Rosemont Civic Association, and current co-chair of the Alexandria
Federation of Civic Associations. She has followed closely and participated
in numerous land use issues in Alexandria, including the proposals
for the Patent and Trademark Office in, first, Potomac Yard and,
then, Eisenhower Valley. Ms. Cannady, who is a Democrat, is a graduate
of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
Ginny Hines Parry, ASG
President, has lived in Alexandria since 1980. Over the past twenty
years her service to the community has included the following: Chair
of the Alexandria Youth Services Commission, Co-President of the
Alexandria League of Women Voters, member of the board of directors
of DASH Bus Company, Alexandria United Way, and Residential Youth
Services, member of the Alexandria Democratic Committee, Tutoring
Coordinator for MacArthur Elementary School PTA, Vice-President
of the Alexandria PTA Council and past President and current board
member of the Clover-College Park Civic Association. She has two
degrees from Old Dominion University--a B.S. in Secondary Education
and a Masters in Urban Studies.
Frank Putzu, ASG First
Vice President, has lived in the Alexandria area since 1986, and
his wife, Sandra, is a native Alexandrian. Over the years his service
to the community has included the following: current President and
past Board member of the Seminary Hill Association, Inc. with significant
participation in quality of life issues affecting residential neighborhoods,
including zoning and development issues and City policies affecting
citizens and taxpayers. He also has served as a delegate for Alexandria
Republicans in statewide elections. Since his appointment in February
2000, he has served as a member of the City of Alexandria Board
of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Putzu has a B.A. in Political Science and
Economics from Duke University and a J.D. from The American University,
Washington College of Law.
